CEU has embarked upon a comprehensive plan to redevelop the current CEU campus to create a University that is forward looking in both technology and sustainable energy use, and unique in the Central and Eastern European region. The plan presents CEU with a remarkable opportunity to create a complex, modern campus. Its prime objectives are to provide sufficient space and appropriate facilities to support current as well as future activities and needs of the University. It will strengthen the community life of CEU and provide CEU students, faculty and staff with an inspiring space for studying, teaching, research and interaction, and will also be a base for CEU to integrate further in the academic and social life of Budapest and Hungary, enhancing the visibility of CEU in Hungary and internationally, enabling the University to continue to attract highly qualified students, faculty and staff.
The proposed redevelopment site comprises five distinct but contiguous buildings that will require differing levels of refurbishment and redesign plus a vacant development site that is capable of sustaining approximately 4,000 square metres of new construction.
The Campus Redevelopment Office at CEU (CREO) wishes to solicit expressions of interest from qualified architectural and design firms. Interested parties should contact CREO at creo@ceu.hu or at (+36 1) 328 3417 to obtain further information and application details. The deadline for submission of initial expressions of interest is 24th of April 2011.
